Inside Villa Mawaka
Villa Mawaka was DIA Development's first flagship project: a private four-bedroom holiday villa designed and built for an international owner on the quieter southern stretch of Diani Beach Road, completed and handed over in 2025.
The villa pairs hand-built coral-stone walls — sourced and quarried locally in Kwale County — with the clean, contemporary lines of tropical-modern architecture. The TV feature wall is a study in Swahili craftsmanship: arched niches and a coral-stone surround, lit by a single hand-woven palm pendant. Hardwood joinery throughout, terrazzo floors cast on site, and a 4 × 8 metre pool framed by mature palms.
Mawaka is held privately by its owners and is not on the rental market. We feature it here as our calling card: a benchmark of the standard, materials and detailing that go into every DIA Development home.
Mawaka is privately owned, but we design and build bespoke villas of similar standard for international buyers in Diani. Reservations, design and handover all in-house.
Set back from the main Diani Beach Road on a quiet residential plot with mature tropical gardens. Five minutes to Ukunda Airstrip, four minutes' walk to the reef.
